Honestly, 2009 has been the worst year for this kind of shit, real talk…
Anthony Williams p/k to the world as The Legendary Grand Master Roc Raida has passed away unexpectedly today Sept 19 2009. He is survived by his wife, 3 lovely daughters, mother and friends. Raida was recently in an mixed martial arts accident, something that he has been practicing for several years. Although he had under gone 2 surgeries with great success, was released to an inpatient physical therapy facility and was in great spirits the past few days. This morning he started to have complications and passed. The family asks for privacy at this time.
I understand it’s been really slow around here for the past week or so, and I apologize for that. The fact of the matter is that recently I (simplesteve) have been spending most of my waking hours educating myself (senior year) and stacking paper on the part time grind. Morph has been doing the university thing and also trying to clock some hours aswell. Trust me, I really feel terrible for how neglected the blog has been, real talk… Bare with us for the next little while longer and I (hope) that things’ll go back to normal soon. – Management (LOL)
The Q-Tip heads should be hyped to hear about this one, the project that is Kamaal The Abstract will finally be seeing the light of day on September 15th. Above is a clip where The Abstract himself speaks to Sway of MTV about the album. After the cut you can peep the video in text format and the tracklist (as of now) Since I’m such a nice guy, I’ve added one of the bonus tracks from the album for you to check out…
B-List actresses be warned and flattered because FELT is back! Slug (Atmosphere) and Murs (Living Legends) reunite for their third release from moniker FELT. These MCs teamed up with The Grouch (Living Legends) in 2002 to release FELT’s debut album A Tribute to Christina Ricci. Collaborating with producer Ant (Atmosphere) in 2005 resulted in their second coming A Tribute to Lisa Bonet. With the fresh addition of Aesop Rock (Def Jux) on production and unwavering love for those forgotten actresses who warmed their hearts, Slug and Murs are pleased to present FELT 3: A Tribute to Rosie Perez dropping 11.17.09 on Rhymesayers Entertainment.
NEW YORK (AP) — DJ AM, the sought-after disc jockey who became a celebrity in his own right with high-profile romances and a glamorous lifestyle, was found dead Friday at his apartment, which had drug paraphernalia in it, a law enforcement official said.
Paramedics had to break down the door to his Manhattan apartment before they found his body at about 5:20 p.m., the official told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because family hadn’t been notified. There was no evidence of foul play, the official said.
Seriously this fucking year sucks. STEVE EDIT: I hope this doesn’t seem like they’re playing it out to be, but I don’t see it happening… At any rate, R.I.P. Adam..

Above is a recent interview Lu did but what this post is really for is to get the information out there that on September 18th, Lupe Fiasco will be performing at the University of Manitoba Parkade adjacent to the Helen Glass Building. More info under the cut (via UMFM.com) and Tickets (for non U of M) can be copped HERE via Ticketmaster. I love Lupe (pause) but this doesnt quite make up for the heartbreak of the Slaughter/Slum show that was cancelled today…
